San Diego Week 12- Funny Stuff

Hey Everyone,

I don't have a lot of time to write today. It was a pretty eventful and interesting week, and I've got a bunch of stuff I'll have to tell you about later, but for now let me just quickly share a funny experience.

There's a lot of jargon used in the mission. Missionaries say you are born when you come into the field, and when you go home they say you die. They say that someone's last companion before they die kills them. For example, they would say I was born in the Valley. And they would say that Elder Burton killed Elder Payne. I'm pretty sure this is common across all missions, or at least there's something similar. But that's just the way people talk about those things, and now that I'm used to it I don't really notice it anymore.

Anyway, a member took all 5 of the Brawley Elders to Subway after we did some service, and while we were eating the topic of killing missionaries came up. Everyone was talking about missionaries they used to know. I can't reproduce the dialogue exactly, but the following represents it pretty well.

"Did you kill Elder Sorenson?"
"No, Elder Price killed him."
"Oh. Who was it that you killed last summer?"
"I killed Elder Reynoso, and that was really sad. I almost cried."
"Yeah, killing missionaries is a really weird experience. I was there when Elder Davis died. I watched President take his name tag. It was super weird."

While this conversation was going on, I noticed a lady in line was glancing at us, and she looked absolutely terrified. I imagined what this conversation must sound like to her, and I just started laughing. It was a solid contestant for the funniest moment of my life.

I hope everyone has a great week.

Your Friend,
Elder Wadsworth
